Strong local representation for ABT Tour - Philippines

11th June, Manila: The inaugural ABT Tour, reaches its third leg this weekend at the Green Valley Country Club Bowling Centre in Pasig City, Makati where all the best of Asian bowlers will be featured with a LIVE telecast on June 13th at 16:00 (Hong Kong/Singapore time).

ABF Tour Malaysia runner-up and top-seed, Sarah Yap will meet Filipinas, Irene Garcia after being crowned Philippines Open champion while ABF Tour debutant and Men's top-seed, Joonee Gatchalian of the Philippines will face off renigning AMF World Cup Champion. C.J. Suarez early in Round 1.

Sarah Yap emerging as Ladies' Open Masters champion

World Championship Team Gold medalist, Sarah Yap defeated defending champion, Liza del Rosario of the Philippines in front of a strong partisan crowd, to clinch the Ladies' Masters title. The 31 year-old is drawn to meet ABF Tour Thailand semifinalist, Irene Garcia of the Philippines and if she can win her Round 1 match, she may have a smooth passage to a semi final spot with one of the two newcomers and ABF Tour debutants Apple Posadas or Elaine Florencio of the Philippines in Round 2.

At the other end of the women's draw table, current Asian Ranked No. 1, Liza del Rosario is matched against 2002 World Ranking Masters champion, Jennifer Tan of Singapore while 2003 AMF World Cup runner-up, Jojo Canare is drawn against fellow-countrywoman and 2003 World Championship Trios Gold medalist, Liza Clutario, which promises to be an exicting match.

Third-seed, Esther Cheah will face teammate and top Malaysian women spinner, Tang Joh Six in Round 1 while fourth-seed Happy Soediyono of Indonesia will meet 6th Asian Schools Two Gold medalist, Sharon Limansantoso.

Newly-crowned 33rd Boysen-PBC International Open Men's Masters champion, Joonee Gatchalian, has a tough match on his hands being drawn against renigning AMF World Cup champion, Christian Juan "CJ" Suarez in the all-Filipino Round 1 clash. ABF Tour Malaysia leg champion and the first Asian bowler to score a perfect game LIVE on TV, Ryan Lalisang meets Singapore's southpaw and Busan Asian Games triple Gold medalist, Remy Ong of Singapore while fourth-seed, Jonathan Lim will face Filipino tour debutant, Arnold Lecaros in the other Round 1 match.

The 19 year-old 2003 National champion, who made the stepladder finals in the preceeding Open, was unlucky to be knocked by Choi Bok Eum's perfect game despite scoring a high game of 231. Another Filipino, Markwin Tee is matched up against second-seed and fellow-countryman, Tyrone Ongpauco.

The ABF Tour comprise six Legs and a Grand Final, the Tournament of Champions. Each Leg will be staged over two competition days where the top 16 men and 16 women bowlers from the preceding International Open Masters Event (Open Grade) will compete in a one-game match play knock-out competition for the individual men's and women's titles.

The Tournament of Champions will be staged over four competition days where the top 16 men and 16 women bowlers (based on ABF Tour ranking points), plus two additional wildcard entries from the West Asia region (thus totalling 18 men in the men's division), will qualify to compete over four rounds of competition for the coveted men's and women's ABF Tour Champion titles.

The ABF Tour - Philippines Day 2 matches will be telecast LIVE on local Philippines NBN Channel 4, Malaysia's Astro Supersport and Singapore's Starhub on June 13th at 16:00 (Hong Kong/Singapore time). Highlights of the leg will also be shown in the six countries where the tour are being held. It will also be broadcast later in other parts of Europe, Africa, the Middle East, central Asia, China and Australasia with an estimated audience of around 75 million.
